About the Opportunity

A leading international renewable energy developer is expanding its wind delivery team in Japan and is seeking an experienced Onshore Wind Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of utility-scale wind projects.

With multiple projects progressing into construction over the coming year, this is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established developer at a pivotal stage of growth. You will take ownership of projects from construction through to commissioning, ensuring delivery against schedule, budget, quality and safety objectives while working alongside multidisciplinary teams and key external stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to work on some of Japan's most significant renewable energy developments within a highly collaborative international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of utility-scale onshore wind projects from construction through commissioning, ensuring safe, timely and cost-effective execution.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, cash flow and CAPEX, proactively monitoring progress and implementing mitigation strategies to achieve project milestones.
• Oversee EPC, Balance of Plant (BoP), service and other project contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commercial, finance and legal functions to drive successful project delivery.
• Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, lenders, regulatory authorities, local communities and other key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and project execution.
• Monitor construction activities, quality standards and site performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks while driving continuous improvement opportunities to maximise project performance.
• Support procurement activities, contractor selection, technical due diligence and lender requirements throughout project execution.
• Prepare executive-level project reports, financial updates and performance analyses, providing regular communication to senior management and project stakeholders.
• Foster a collaborative project environment by leading project meetings, resolving issues proactively and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety and operational excellence.

Requirements & Experiences 

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience managing utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Proven experience delivering onshore wind projects through construction and commissioning is essential.
• Strong experience managing project schedules, budgets, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Formal Project Management certification (PMP, IPMA or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of EPC project delivery and contract administration.
• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and negotiation skills.
• Fluent English is essential. Japanese language ability is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience delivering renewable energy projects in Japan or across multiple international markets will be highly regarded.
• Candidates with experience limited to a single market may be less suitable due to the regional nature of the role.
