Spencer Ogden are assisting our client with their plans to extend its offshore high voltage grid, by constructing the Princess Elisabeth Island (PEI) to contribute to Europe and Belgium’s Energy Transition towards a zero carbon future. The grid shall connect the new Belgian windfarms situated within the “Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone” to the existing onshore grid.
The client is currently building:
• An artificial energy island (with offshore transmission infrastructure)
• Multiple AC substations at 66kV & 220 kV (The windfarms are to be connect at the 66kV level = scope windfarm owners)
• 6 x 220kV AC export cable systems of ~50 km each
General Info of the assignment:
The position is situated within the cable package team where you will contribute to the engineering and implementation of offshore cable systems in support of Belgium’s transition towards clean and renewable energy sources.
The project is preparing its execution phase and is looking for an enthusiastic senior project engineer to reinforce its project team. In the short term, the activities will focus on
the preparation of installation of the HVAC cable systems under the framework of an EPCI contract.

As part of the PEI team,
? You seek out opportunities to create additional benefits to the project.
? You report pro-actively and regularly regarding status and progress of your activities.
? You can engage with relevant contractors and internal experts where required.
? You follow-up certain scope of works, reviewing documentation, including making comment sheets.
As Senior Project Engineer,
? You are part of the Cable Team and report to the Lead T&I.
? You work in a multi-disciplinary team and keep relevant stakeholders informed.
? You are able to independently review documentation.
? You ensure adequate follow-up of external parties.
? You assist in following-up the project.
? You follow-up the execution of the offshore works with help of offshore client representatives.
Hard skills and soft skills:
? You have at least 8 years of working experience in works related to the offshore cable industry, with experience in:
o Offshore cable lay and burial experience.
o Landfall / Beach Cable pull-ins.
o Cable pull-in on structures.
o Preparatory works e.g., PLGR, boulder clearance, OOS removal etc.
o Experience with pre-sweeping and dredging operations.
o Offshore construction works including vessel ops, ROV ops, etc.
o Cable installation analysis, pull-in analysis, and weather limits.
? You have a good understanding of Survey techniques, GIS software, and route engineering.
? You have a Masters in Engineering.
? You are a team player.
? You can work in an international project environment.
? You enjoy technical challenges and are a quick learner.
? You have entrepreneurial skills and are not deterred by challenges.
Languages:
Fluent in English & Dutch
French speaking is a plus
Duration of the project:
Starting Mid August 2026 for 1 year – long term extension likely
Working hours & workplace:
? Full time, Mon-Fri, on average 2/3 days per week in the main office or on site
? Main office in Brussels with site visits to the Belgian North Sea coast before and during project execution
? Possible need for short business trips to contractors, suppliers, etc.
