Construction Manager (District Heating Project)

Location: Munich, Germany

Currently, we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee a major district heating project in Munich, requiring extensive power plant experience.

Position Summary: As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process for the district heating project in Munich. Your primary focus will be overseeing the construction and installation of a power plant, ensuring it is executed within budget, on schedule, and meets the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong background in power plant construction and a comprehensive understanding of district heating systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Lead and manage the construction project from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  2. Construction Oversight: Oversee all construction activities, including site preparation, power plant construction, equipment installation, and infrastructure development.
  3. Technical Expertise: Utilize your extensive power plant experience to provide technical guidance and support throughout the construction process, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  4. Contractor Management: Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, overseeing their work, evaluating performance, and ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  5. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures and inspections to guarantee the highest standards of construction quality are maintained.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may arise during the construction process, taking appropriate measures to address them promptly.
  7. Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration with project stakeholders, including engineers, designers, consultants, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project execution.
  8. Health and Safety: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety on the construction site at all times.
  9. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, and construction records, ensuring timely reporting to project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A relevant Master's degree is a plus.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on power plant construction. Prior experience with district heating projects is highly desirable.
  3. Power Plant Expertise: Strong knowledge and understanding of power plant construction processes, equipment, and systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, and associated infrastructure.
  4. Project Management Skills: Proven track record in successfully managing complex construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to power plant construction and district heating systems.
  6. Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  7. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  8. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
  9. Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and German is required.
