Job Description

This is a senior role within the Commercial Management team which provides commercial and procurement services. The Lead Category Buyer will drive the development, execution, and ongoing management of effective procurement strategies for the specific spend categories of Infrastructure, Facilities and Engineering Services with regards to service performance, quality, cost, innovation, sustainability, and governance.

Responsibilities

-      Lead a team in the provision of procurement expertise across major engineering project delivery, facilities and property management, telecoms, and engineering services.

-      Lead a team in the preparation of category plans for each subcategory of spend across the team, running end to end procurement processes, and manage the demand planning process, ensuring deadlines are met.

-      Report to the Head of Commercial Management and support the Head of Function in the day-to-day operation of the team.

-      Provide professional procurement expertise to deliver key business objectives (cost, delivery performance, risk mitigation, innovation, etc.), working cross functionally with international joint venture partners and implement a business-wide approach to procurement best practice which includes supplier on-boarding & selection, driving standardisation & enhancing efficiencies.

-      Create and manage commercial and contracting strategies that underpin the overall strategic procurement process and develop innovative delivery models across all contracts, advising on contract risk for each initiative.

-      Develop and lead innovative delivery models for the group telecoms subsidiary ETDAC and effectively manage relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and commitment to implementation.

Qualifications and Experience

-      A degree in a technical discipline or a related discipline (e.g. supply chain management).

-      10+ years' experience within the category areas of infrastructure, facilities and engineering services (or similar).

-      The ability to effectively communicate, influence and collaborate with key stakeholders with a demonstrated ability to build capability within the team, including coaching junior staff.

-      Working knowledge of purchasing tools, platforms and processes with an understanding of the financial analysis and reporting of project budgets is essential for this role while knowledge of utilities and/or experience of public sector tendering is highly desirable.
