Role Overview
As a Business Development Lead Consultant, you will play a dual role:

  1. Driving new business development across your assigned market verticals.
  2. Leading and developing a team of Business Development Consultants to achieve revenue and growth targets.
You will own the full business development cycle, from prospecting and client acquisition to account expansion and strategy execution. You’ll also be responsible for coaching your team, setting activity benchmarks, and ensuring consistent delivery of best practices across client engagement and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities
Client Development & Account Management
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with hiring managers and decision-makers.
  • Win new business, negotiate contracts and fees, and ensure high-quality client delivery.
  • Partner with clients to provide market insights and consultative guidance on talent trends and project pipelines.
  • Expand existing accounts and identify opportunities for cross-selling within the natural resources and renewables markets.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Business Development Consultants to meet and exceed individual and team KPIs.
  • Support team members through training, pipeline reviews, and performance coaching.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven culture that aligns with Spencer Ogden’s values.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align team goals with wider business objectives and growth strategy.
Market Intelligence
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and project developments in the natural resources sector.
  • Build deep market expertise to guide both clients and consultants strategically.
  • Represent Spencer Ogden at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Proven business development experience in staffing or recruitment (required)
  • Previous team leadership or mentorship experience (Required)
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
  • Motivated by growth, targets, and developing others
  • Interest or background in renewable energy, infrastructure, or sustainability is a plus
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization required
