Commercial Manager, Renewable Energy

Our client is a leading global renewable energy company with an established presence across wind, energy storage, and clean energy infrastructure. They are actively growing their project pipeline in Southern Africa and are looking for a Commercial Manager to support their regional operations.

 

The Role

You will manage the full commercial and contractual lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from bid preparation through to contract signature and handover to execution. You will work closely with customer-facing teams, legal, finance, and engineering to drive contract finalisation and manage commercial risk.

 

What You Will Do

 

Contract Management

 

• Manage supply, installation, and service contracts through the full Initiation to Order (ITO) phase
• Drive alignment on terms and conditions across all parties through customer negotiations
• Coordinate inter-departmental sign-off and ensure smooth contract handover to execution
• Cover wind turbine, energy storage, and service project contracts

 

Commercial and Contract Risk

 

• Identify and assess commercial, contractual, and legal risks across the project lifecycle
• Prepare and finalise agreements and ensure compliance through to contract signature
• Support project execution teams on signed contracts as required

 

Compliance and Risk Analysis

 

• Assess risks across commercial, legal, financial, engineering, logistics, and delivery dimensions
• Develop mitigation strategies to protect project profitability and ensure compliance

 

Bid Management

 

• Lead bid preparation including pre-bid risk identification and commercial proposal development
• Integrate internal and external resources to produce competitive bidding materials
• Collaborate with customer-facing teams on wind, storage, and other product bids

 

Business Process Improvement

 

• Summarise international business risks and commercial best practices
• Contribute to the standardisation of risk management tools and templates
• Support optimisation of contract and bid management processes

 

What You Bring

 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business with a contractual law focus, or Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial)
• 5 to 10 years of experience in international project bidding, contract negotiation, risk assessment, and commercial or legal affairs
• Background in the power, renewable energy, or wind industry is strongly preferred
• Experience drafting and finalising contracts and bidding documents
• Engineering exposure is an advantage
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver under pressure
