Job Description:

Construction Coordinator

To observe construction activities of Project Engineering–assigned contractors at any company facility. Assists in coordinating work between multiple contractors and company operations, and advises management on the contractor’s safety compliance, quality of work, productivity, schedule, and anticipated problems.

Responsibilities:

Observe contractors’ construction activities for assigned projects at company facilities.

Monitor performance of contractors and contractor personnel to ensure safety and industry best practices are being met; recommend corrective actions when safety performance is unacceptable.

Identify issues and concerns with contractors’ construction performance; investigate and recommend corrective actions as needed, engaging management and engineering when additional support is required.

Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract schedule, specifications, and quality requirements.

Review and provide comments on design documents as required.

Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders by interfacing with company personnel, customers, contractors, and Project Engineering.

Document daily contractor activities through written descriptions and photographs.

Coordinate work between multiple contractors and company operations, advising management of potential issues and concerns.

Ensure daily observations are thorough and accurate.

Coordinate compliance with company policies such as LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.

Coordinate the interface between other departments served or impacted by a project and the contractors relative to the construction activities (e.g., safety, protection of company property, site regulations, schedule review or development, material deliveries, progress reports, and miscellaneous administrative actions).

Perform other duties as assigned.

Comply with all company policies and standards.

Qualifications:

Ten years of supervisory/project experience preferred; civil, electrical, mechanical, operational, or QA/QC experience desirable.

Strong preference for certification in project management or other specialized training from an external institution and demonstrated advanced construction management skills.

Above-average communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership ability.

Advanced proficiency in OSHA and site safety standards.

Ability to effectively work with management, contractors, and their employees.

Proficient in quality standards related to materials and equipment.

Advanced knowledge of equipment erection and installation standards and methods.

Competent in use of standard software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Work Conditions:

Expectation is 90% field time and 10% office time.

Most time is spent standing and walking throughout construction sites with uneven terrain and dusty conditions.

May need to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Hours:

50 hours per week anticipated.

Shift will be determined by contractor’s schedule; nights and weekends are possible.
