Job Description:

To observe construction activities of Project Engineering assigned contractors at any facility within company. Assists in coordinating work between multiple contractors and Company operations and advises management on the contractor's safety compliance, quality of work, productivity, schedule, and anticipated problems.


Responsibilities:

• Responsible for observing contractors’ construction activities, of assigned projects, at any facility within company.

• Monitors performance of contractors and contractor personnel to ensure safety and industry best practices are being met. Recommends corrective actions in the field when safety performance is found to be unacceptable.

• Identifies issues and concerns with contractors’ construction performance. If issues are identified, the position is responsible for investigating and recommending corrective actions. Engages management and engineering on an as needed basis if additional support is required to address contractors’ construction performance.

• Monitors contractor work for compliance with contract schedule, specifications, and quality requirements.

• Reviews and provides comments to design documents as required.

• Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders by interfacing with company personnel, customers, all contractors, and Project Engineering.

• Documents daily contractor activities through written descriptions and photographs of work.

• Coordinates work between multiple contractors and Company operations and advises management of potential issues and/or concerns as they are identified.

• Ensure daily observations are thorough and accurate.

• Coordinates compliance with Company Policy, such as LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.

• Coordinates the interface between other departments served or impacted by a particular project and the contractors relative to the construction activities of the project (i.e., providing services regarding safety, protection of company property, site regulations, schedule review or development, material deliveries, progress reports, and miscellaneous administrative actions).

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Complies with all policies and standards.


Qualifications:

• Ten years of supervisory/project experience is preferred. Previous hands-on construction experience in an industrial setting is required. Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Operational or QA/QC experience is preferable. Preference for certification in project management or other specialized training from an external institution and demonstrated advanced construction management skills. Experience with projects at electric generation sites is beneficial.

• Above-average communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership ability.

• Advanced proficiency in OSHA and site safety standards.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with management, contractors, and their employees.

• Proficient in quality standards related to materials and equipment.

• Advanced knowledge of equipment erection and installation standards and methods.

• Competent in use of standard software packages. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)


Work Conditions:

The expectation is 90% field time and 10% office time. Most of the time is spent standing and walking throughout construction site with uneven terrain and dusty conditions. May need to lift up to 50 lbs. Driving company owned pickup trucks on site to access work areas is required.
