Construction Manager – Data Center (Korea)

Overview


We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale data center construction projects in Korea. This role is responsible for ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards required for mission-critical facilities.


Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Coordination


Lead and manage all day-to-day construction activities across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.


Coordinate closely with General Contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project teams.


Ensure compliance with project specifications, design intent, and data center standards.


Drive weekly site meetings, progress reviews, and interface coordination.


Schedule, Cost & Quality Management


Monitor project schedules to ensure milestones are met; work with contractors to mitigate delays.


Track construction progress against KPIs and provide regular reporting to project leadership.


Oversee cost control, change management, and support the review of contractor claims and variations.


Ensure quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) protocols are implemented and adhered to.


Health, Safety & Compliance


Enforce strict adherence to site HSE regulations, corporate safety standards, and local Korean regulatory requirements.


Conduct regular safety inspections and support incident investigations as required.


Ensure all works comply with local building codes, permitting processes, and statutory approvals.


Technical Oversight


Review design drawings, method statements, and technical submittals for constructability and compliance.


Provide technical input during design coordination and construction phases.


Support commissioning teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to testing & commissioning (T&C) and eventual handover.


Stakeholder & Risk Management


Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and government bodies.


Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues when necessary.


Facilitate collaboration between global teams and local Korean partners to ensure seamless delivery.


Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.


Minimum 8–12 years construction management experience, with at least 3–5 years in mission-critical or data center projects preferred.


Strong understanding of data center building standards, MEP systems, and high-availability infrastructure.


Proven track record managing large EPC, main contractor, or developer-side construction projects.


Knowledge of Korean construction regulations, permitting processes, and local subcontractor landscape.


Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


Proficiency in English; Korean language ability is a significant advantage.


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center builds.


Familiarity with international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, TIA-942, etc.).


Previous experience working with global teams or multinational clients.


Certification in PMP, CM, or equivalent is a plus.
