About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer to join our consultancy team, supporting projects across Australia, the Middle East, and Africa. Based in Brisbane with remote working flexibility, you will play a key role in delivering technical studies, guiding project teams, and providing expertise to clients on power systems planning and operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver power systems studies including load flow, short-circuit, stability, and dynamic simulations.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and project teams, ensuring high-quality outputs and compliance with client requirements and Australian/international standards.
  • Support grid connection studies for renewable energy projects, including compliance with NER (National Electricity Rules), AEMO requirements, and relevant regional regulations in the Middle East and Africa.
  • Work closely with the Principal Engineer to scope, plan, and deliver consultancy assignments.
  • Liaise with clients, utilities, and regulatory bodies to communicate study outcomes and provide technical recommendations.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, project scoping, and technical presentations.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical capability and knowledge-sharing within the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Power Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in power systems engineering within utilities, consultancies, or renewable developers.
  • Strong experience with power system analysis software (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Proven knowledge of Australian grid codes, NER, and AEMO connection processes, as well as familiarity with international practices in the Middle East and Africa.
  • Track record in delivering grid connection and system impact studies for renewable or conventional generation projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders across regions.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, while collaborating effectively with a wider team.
