Project Finance Lead

We are seeking a seasoned Project Finance Lead to join a high-growth independent power producer (IPP) focused on utility-scale renewable energy. This is a deal-execution-focused role designed for a finance professional who thrives at the center of complex transactions - not managing a portfolio from the sidelines, but owning every financing from term sheet to close.

The ideal candidate has a track record as the number-one deal lead on utility-scale project financings, brings deep construction lending expertise, and walks in the door with established relationships across the lender and tax equity community.

You will lead all project finance transactions end-to-end, serving as the primary point of contact and deal team leader from structuring through financial close. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Own construction loan execution - manage the full lifecycle of construction financing, coordinating across legal, technical, and tax equity workstreams while driving lenders and advisors to close on schedule.
  • Serve as primary deal lead - act as the senior representative on all financing transactions, accountable for deal structure, process management, documentation negotiation, and closing execution.
  • Manage lender and banking relationships - serve as the key relationship holder with construction and term lenders, tax equity investors, and financial institutions across the project pipeline.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams - align internal teams (development, legal, tax, engineering) and external advisors around financing milestones and deliverables.
  • Drive execution on the existing portfolio - this role is oriented toward closing and executing the current pipeline of projects rather than business development or origination.
  • Maintain deal discipline and rigor - track deal timelines, manage diligence processes, and ensure all parties are accountable to closing schedules.

Required Experience & Background

  • 7–10+ years of project finance experience, with meaningful time spent at an independent power producer (IPP) or renewable energy developer.
  • Demonstrated track record as the number-one deal lead on utility-scale project financings — not a support role, but the person accountable for the transaction.
  • Direct, recent experience closing construction loans on renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage, or similar).
  • Strong, active relationships with construction lenders, term lenders, tax equity investors, and other financial institutions in the clean energy space.
  • Deep command of project finance deal structures, credit agreements, and financing documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple active transactions simultaneously while maintaining quality and hitting deadlines.
