Construction Safety Coordinator

The Construction Safety Coordinator will primarily be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment at a Power Plant's construction site. The role involves actively working in the field, observing contractors, identifying and correcting safety hazards, and supporting the implementation of safety procedures. This individual will be part of a team and work closely with another safety professional who will handle the majority of the paperwork and reporting tasks. The primary focus of the role is field oversight, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety among contractors.


Callouts:

- This role is on site 5 days a week at E.W Brown

- Looking for someone that can work well in a team environment and knows how to effectively communicate


Responsibilities:

• Actively monitor and oversee the safety practices of contractors performing construction work on-site.

• Perform regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Recommends corrective actions in the field when safety performance is found to be unacceptable.

• Assist with the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans, including emergency evacuation, fire, medical, and rescue protocols.

• Attends project pre-planning, progress, and other relevant project-related meetings to discuss safety-related matters.

• Maintain a strong presence in the field, serving as a resource and point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.

• Assists in the investigation of project-related accidents. Confers with supervisor to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for changes in the work processes to eliminate recurrence.

• Collaborate with the on-site safety lead to ensure all safety procedures and documentation are up to date.

• Coordinates compliance with Company Policy, such as LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Complies with all policies and standards.


Qualifications:

• Must have OSHA 30 certification. Preferably OSHA 500 or CHST.

• A bachelor’s degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.

• At least 2-3 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in industrial or power plant settings.

• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise feedback to contractors and workers.

• Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, strong time management, and organizational skills.

• Competent in use of standard software packages. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

• Strong organizational skills with a focus on fieldwork rather than office tasks.


Work Hours:

• 50 hours a week is anticipated. Shift will be determined by contractor’s schedule. Nights and weekends are possible.
