Senior Estimator

A leading construction and industrial services organization is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support estimating efforts across a diverse portfolio of field and prefabrication projects. This role is responsible for developing estimates and proposals from concept through completion, including lump?sum bids, unit pricing, and quantity takeoffs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with clients, procurement teams, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify scope and resolve estimating issues.
  • Review project scope, drawings, and specifications to identify gaps, overlaps, and risk areas.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to validate cost assumptions and secure alignment with estimate strategy.
  • Analyze historical data to refine cost models and improve estimating accuracy.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for compliance, pricing, and scope alignment.
  • Conduct outreach, solicitation, and prequalification efforts for subcontractors, including small and disadvantaged businesses.
  • Participate in pre?bid meetings and present estimating strategies to internal teams and clients as needed.
  • Perform market and labor studies to inform pricing recommendations.
  • Develop summary schedules and provide pricing for indirect costs, general conditions, contingencies, and escalation.
  • Review commercial terms with legal teams to identify cost and risk implications.
  • Prepare estimate clarifications, assumptions, and value?engineering options.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and tools.
  • Ensure all work complies with internal standards, methodologies, and quality expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
  • 3+ years of direct estimating experience within mechanical or industrial construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating software such as Quotesoft, Accubid, Oracle, or PowerBI preferred.
  • Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, cost control systems, and multidisciplinary construction processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational capability.
  • Detail?oriented with strong analytical and problem?solving skills.
  • Ability to manage large workloads, multitask effectively, and work both independently and in collaborative teams.
  • Creative and analytical thinker able to make quick, reliable decisions.
