Sr. Engineer Interconnection

 BASIC FUNCTION: Briefly state the overall purpose or function of this position.

The Senior Engineer, Interconnection Engineering will primarily be responsible for review of Interconnection Studies

received from various utilities. This work will include providing written reports, presentations, summary notes to various

internal stakeholders, scheduling and facilitating external calls with Utilities, training junior team members on results,

technical issues, providing recommendations to achieve the successful results. This position plays a pivotal role in the

department through development activities across all distribution connected projects. The candidate will be responsible

for completing the work either directly, through internal or external resources, as well as acting in a mentor role helping

to develop and train junior team members.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

? Review utility study results and evaluate the merit of these impacts, where applicable challenge study results

to ensure interconnection study results and associated costs are appropriate.

? Coordinate and lead external review/update calls with Utilities.

? Advise the Development team on system impact costs and provide guidance as required.

? Support Development and Construction activities on site and perform on site visits as necessary to support the

project development.

? Review application documentation generated by more junior design staff.

? Provide engineering oversight and expertise through the interconnection application and study process.

? Maintain knowledge of utility design standards and interconnection processes to proactively address issues as

they arise through the interconnection process.

? Ensure all interconnection equipment line-ups are appropriate for each utility, communicated to design

engineers and integrated into application submissions.

? Develop interconnection cost models for comparison of markets.

? Direct external engineering resources as necessary and manage the task order and accounting process.

Internal

? Train and develop junior engineers and design/drafting technicians on electrical systems design, technologies,

codes, and contract document preparation.

? Review the design approach methods and equipment selection to ensure the best overall project design and

customer goals are achieved.

? Review Interconnection Service Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements and EPC agreements to ensure

interconnection design compliance.

? Oversee various testing and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: Briefly describe the educational background, work experience, and skill-set

necessary for successful performance in this position. Include preferences as applicable.

EDUCATION:

? Undergraduate (BS) Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

? PE Registration as a Professional Engineer

? Driver’s License.

EXPERIENCE:

? A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in distribution system engineering

? A minimum of 3 years of experience creating or reviewing engineering drawings (one-line/three-lines).

? A minimum of 3 plus years of experience with Utility distribution system design, substation design, and/or

protection engineering.

? A minimum of 2 years of experience creating or reviewing Engineering Interconnection study reports.

? Competent with computer software including SKM, ETAP, PSSE/PSCAD or utility propriety distribution design

software. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office suite, Smartsheet, Adobe.

? Demonstrated knowledge of various application portals (PowerClerk, Connect the Grid, and others).

? Strong ability to plan, track and manage the development activities of interconnection applications.

? Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.

? Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various problems.

? Capable to interact effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines.

? Ability to integrate both verbal and written communications with interpersonal skills.

? Interpersonal skills necessary to work within a cross functional team.

? Ability to represent the company well.

This position is a hybrid office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations. The
