We are delighted to announce that Spencer Ogden has won Best ESG Business Strategy at the 2025 Recruiter Awards.
A new category for 2025, the judges recognised the measurable impact of our ESG initiatives in 2024 - delivered through the dedication of our teams and partners across the globe.
Spencer Ogden’s ESG strategy is embedded into the business and integrated across all our functions. The collaborative, integrated approach to ESG governance ensures cross-departmental understanding and accountability for driving actions against central performance metrics. We see ESG as a determinant of our ability to deliver long-term value to our clients, environment, and local communities
We have established comprehensive processes and dedicated groups to integrate and resource ESG objectives effectively. Excitingly, this included forming ESG and Energy Champions committees. The ESG committee enhances communication, integrates sustainability into corporate strategy, and enables swift decision-making with CEO and COO representation. The Energy Champions committee, with Board involvement, focuses on energy efficiency and global emissions reduction. Both committees ensure ongoing engagement and decision-maker buy-in.
Our ESG strategy isn’t just words- it drives real-world results:
13,016kg of ocean plastic removed through our partnership with Seven Clean Seas, including 1,513kg in 2024, with 1kg pledged for every job placed
108% increase in employee volunteering days, supporting initiatives from beach cleans to food banks worldwide
£14,277 donated to rainforest protection since partnership launch through our peer recognition programme
Alongside these environmental and social initiatives, our ESG strategy also delivers commercial value:
59% of our revenue was from sustainable markets in 2024- and continuing to grow
Our IMPACT ESG LinkedIn newsletter achieved over 110,000 subscribers and multiple internal and external collaborative content pieces
We rolled out global ESG training integration and an online learning module, with leaders and new starters having completed the training
A clear Net Zero by 2035 target and roadmap established following effective analysis of all scope 1-3 data
We also seek to stay innovative in our ESG strategy and go above and beyond. Spencer Ogden has reported under TCFD guidelines voluntarily since 2023. Despite not meeting the criteria for mandatory disclosure, we recognise the value in assessing climate-related risks and opportunities across our entire value chain. Similarly, we have produced yearly ESG reports, a 2023 and 2024 version outlining the progress we’ve made across environmental, social, and governance priorities, reinforcing our purpose: Creating Careers to Power a Sustainable Future.
We also forge industry partnerships. Collaborating with organisations within sustainable markets such as WRISE (Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy) enables us to bring together industry professionals and support female leadership. Our content initiatives, with industry bodies such as the EIC or through producing our own reports analysing industry trends, exemplify an innovative approach to use data-driven, topical content to build long-lasting commercial partnerships
Central to this success is a robust governance framework- a strategy which is driven and embedded into the organisation by our Global ESG Manager, Regan Callender, whose leadership has been key to translating our commitments into tangible outcomes.
This award is recognition that our ESG strategy is more than a statement- it is action that delivers positive impact for our people, clients, and communities.
At Spencer Ogden, we are proud to be creating careers that power a sustainable future, and this accolade demonstrates what is possible when purpose and performance come together.
Congratulations to all other winners on the night across The Recruiter Awards wide ranging categories!
