Spencer Ogden is supporting a major offshore wind project in Poland and is seeking an experienced Senior Authorised Person (400kV) to join the commissioning and operations team at the onshore substation.


Rotation & Travel

  • 14/14 rotation on-site

  • For local/Polish candidates: Monday–Friday pattern (12-hour days) possible

  • 15 billable days per rotation

  • Apartments provided in ?eba

  • Alternative accommodation (hotel) reimbursed according to company policy


Reporting Line

The role sits within the Electrical Package and reports directly to the Commissioning Management Team, working closely with:

  • Senior Electrical Safety Officer

  • Lead Senior Authorised Person


Role Objective

The Senior Authorised Person (400kV) will be responsible for the safe commissioning, energisation, operation, and management of high-voltage systems at the Onshore Substation. The role ensures full compliance with project Electrical Safety Rules and safe execution of switching operations, first energisations, and HV work coordination.


Key Responsibilities

HV Operations & Safety

  • Act as Person in Control of the Electrical Installation during works

  • Perform and manage HV switching operations (400kV)

  • Create, review, and execute switching schedules

  • Develop safe processes for first energisations

  • Monitor and operate the offshore wind plant locally and via SCADA (if required)

  • Issue, approve, and cancel electrical safety documentation

  • Remove safety precautions when required

  • Manage safe isolation and LOTO/PtW processes

  • Ensure proper handover between SAPs during shift changes

  • Initiate emergency procedures when necessary

Commissioning & Energisation

  • Support design phase to ensure operational requirements are incorporated

  • Participate in FAT/SAT activities

  • Assist with commissioning and energisation activities

  • Witness testing during commissioning period

  • Act as Commissioning Team representative on the Offshore Substation when required

Process & Documentation

  • Contribute to development of Electrical Safety Rules

  • Create processes and procedures for safe HV operation

  • Maintain accurate switching logs, permits, and isolations

  • Prepare handover documentation

  • Review RAMS and assess electrical risk

Leadership & Coordination

  • Promote safety culture and act as a role model

  • Coordinate with APs/SAPs and contractors

  • Respond to abnormal system conditions

  • Train O&M personnel to take over SAP responsibilities

  • Act as standby Control Engineer during team absences


Key Deliverables

  • Safe commissioning and energisation of 400kV systems

  • Compliance with project Electrical Safety Rules

  • Creation and execution of switching schedules

  • Safe workplace creation for all HV works

  • Accurate safety and operational documentation

  • Effective HV risk management and process control


Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience as Senior Authorised Person (400kV)

  • Strong background in:

    • HV commissioning

    • Operations under Electrical Safety Rules

    • Switching schedules

    • Safety documentation

    • Electrical regulations

  • Experience managing HV systems and safe energisations

  • Familiarity with PtW, LOTO, and software-based control systems

  • Fluency in English (mandatory)

  • Polish language skills desirable
