A leading building services engineering consultancy is expanding its UK operations and launching a new Birmingham office. As part of this growth, the company is looking to appoint an Associate Mechanical Engineer to play a key leadership role within the new regional team.


This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer, Principal Mechanical Engineer, or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to help establish and grow a new office while delivering large-scale data centre and mission-critical infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.


The role will be fully remote initially, transitioning to hybrid working once the Birmingham office opens.


The Role


As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the delivery of complex building services engineering projects, focusing on HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, and mechanical design within mission-critical environments.


You will lead project teams, oversee mechanical design delivery, and work closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of technically complex projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and technical delivery of building services projects
  • Provide oversight on HVAC systems, chilled water systems, and cooling infrastructure design
  • Deliver engineering solutions for large-scale data centre and mission-critical developments
  • Manage project teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering groups
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Review and approve technical reports, design calculations, and engineering specifications
  • Support the growth and development of the Birmingham office and engineering team
  • Mentor and develop senior and junior mechanical engineers


Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Proven experience as an Associate Mechanical Engineer, Principal Mechanical Engineer, or Senior Mechanical Engineer within a building services consultancy
  • Strong experience in HVAC design and mechanical building services engineering
  • Experience delivering projects within data centres, mission-critical environments, or complex infrastructure developments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills
