Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Data Center Startup (Remote, East Coast)
An emerging data center company focused on delivering high-performance, scalable, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions to support the next generation of cloud, AI, and enterprise workloads entering a period of rapid growth, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on CFO to join our leadership team.
The Role
The CFO will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, responsible for leading financial strategy, capital raising, investor relations, and operational finance. This role is ideal for a startup-minded financial leader who has successfully scaled companies in the digital infrastructure sector specifically data centers.
This is a remote position (U.S.-based), with preference for candidates located on the East Coast to align with our leadership team and investor base.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy to support growth, profitability, and scalability.
Partner with the CEO and Board on strategic planning, long-term capital allocation, and risk management.
Capital Raising & Investor Relations
Lead fundraising efforts, including equity, debt, and project finance for large-scale data center builds.
Build strong relationships with investors, banks, and financial institutions.
Own board reporting, investor updates, and KPI tracking.
Financial Operations
Establish financial systems, controls, and reporting infrastructure suitable for a scaling startup.
Oversee FP&A, accounting, tax, compliance, and treasury functions.
Implement financial dashboards and metrics to drive performance accountability.
Growth Enablement
Partner cross-functionally with real estate, engineering, and operations teams to evaluate new sites, expansions, and partnerships.
Drive financial modeling for M&A, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
Leadership
Build and mentor a high-performing finance team as the company scales.
Serve as a cultural leader, bringing a startup mindset of adaptability, accountability, and execution.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 3+ years as a CFO or senior finance executive.
Proven track record in start-up or high-growth environments (preferably in data centers, infrastructure, cloud, or energy).
Strong capital markets experience: equity fundraising, debt financing, and project finance.
Deep understanding of financial modelling, valuation, and infrastructure ROI analysis.
Hands-on operator who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to boards and investors.
CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred but not required.
