Construction Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a Construction Manager to lead overnight operations on critical infrastructure projects in the energy sector, including power generation, transmission, and distribution. The role involves supervising all second shift (typically 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM) construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are met while coordinating with day shift and project leadership to maintain 24/7 operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Night Shift Oversight: Manage all construction operations during the second shift, ensuring alignment with daily work plans and long-term project milestones.

• Team Coordination: Interface with day shift managers, contractors, engineers, and safety teams to ensure seamless project execution between shifts.

• Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks, and lead incident response as needed.

• Quality Control: Monitor work for compliance with plans, specs, and industry standards; address quality issues in real-time.

• Reporting: Maintain detailed shift reports, including progress updates, workforce logs, safety observations, and material/equipment usage.

• Issue Resolution: Anticipate and resolve construction challenges, including labor, equipment, and access issues.

• Logistics & Resources: Coordinate overnight deliveries, equipment staging, and crew assignments to optimize productivity.

• Compliance: Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with project requirements, environmental regulations, and jurisdictional codes.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline

• 6+ years of experience managing construction projects, including power generation or transmission & distribution

• Prior experience overseeing night shift or rotating shift operations on infrastructure projects

• Strong understanding of construction safety (OSHA, NFPA 70E), QA/QC procedures, and site logistics

• Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, overnight construction environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-voltage substation, power plant, or linear utility construction

• Familiarity with greenfield/brownfield project execution

• Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Primavera P6, or similar

Additional Details

• This is an overnight position; standard hours are expected to be 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM.

• During last month of the assignment, please be prepared for 12 hour shift.
