Job Description:
The Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and integration of hardware and software for programmable/configurable devices, substation network devices and legacy electrical devices in electric substations and on electric lines. This engineering and integration will support the detailed design of multiple projects reflected in the CAD design drawings produced by others in the I;C Division.The successful candidate will be comfortable working hands-on; in a lab environment, where system prototyping, test setups and connection/integration of devices will be common. Typical devices encountered will be programmable automation controllers, communications devices, network devices, remote terminal units (RTU), protective and control relays, meters, transformer monitors/controllers, transducers and generic controls for intelligent electrical devices (IEDs), etc.This position requires someone who has a positive attitude, strong work ethic and is extremely self-motivated. Further, the position requires someone with a dedicated interest in the integration, connectivity design, networking, programming and configuration of intelligent electrical devices. The position also requires the ability to work successfully in a diverse team environment and with employees of varying technical skills and grade levels.More specifically, the following are required or desired, as noted:; Strong analytical skills are required.; Good clear oral and written communications skills and customer relations skills are required.; Prior MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word skills are required.; Prior experience with programmable/configurable devices, such as RTUs, regulator and recloser controls is desired.; Experience with the IEC-61131 programming suite is desired.; Experience with the DNP-3.0 protocol, both serial and IP is desired.; Experience programming in VB.NET or another high level language is desired.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
