Role: Head of Grid

Location: Melbourne


Lead grid connection strategy and technical interface for a growing renewables platform. Work across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, and wind projects.


Responsibilities

  • Build and execute grid connection strategy for portfolio projects
  • Manage power system studies using PSSC, PSCAD, and similar simulation tools
  • Oversee Generator Performance Standards (GPS) development and negotiation
  • Lead all connection application stages (R0/R1) with market and network operators
  • Liaise with stakeholders including Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and network service providers
  • Navigate National Electricity Rules, Section 5.25 compliance
  • Deliver technical input for commercial risk assessment and cost optimization
  • Coordinate internal grid engineering resources and external consultants
  • Bridge communication between technical and commercial project teams
  • Monitor commissioning activities and ensure compliance with grid requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (power systems focus preferred)
  • 10-15 years hands-on experience with utility-scale grid connections for renewables
  • Deep technical skills with grid modeling, connection applications, GPS documentation
  • Proficiency in PSSC, PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory simulation software
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management experience
  • Proven ability to work with regulators, utilities, and project investors
  • Experience leading technical teams and external consultants
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
