Job Title: Offshore Geotechnical Engineer and Site Investigations Specialist
Hours of work: 08:30 – 16:45
Working days: Monday to Friday.
Position Description
The successful candidate will be an experienced Offshore Geotechnical Engineer responsible for managing
ground risks for offshore wind projects in development, with a particular emphasis on the management of site
investigations. They will work as part of a team on the ongoing development of offshore wind projects around
Ireland and the UK, with the opportunity to join a specific project team as projects progress. Responsibilities
include managing and coordinating tendering and contract award for marine geotechnical and geophysical
services, offshore survey management, and advising on geotechnical engineering solutions. The role also involves
mentoring junior staff and supporting knowledge sharing within the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert geotechnical advice and leadership for complex technical issues
• Scope, procure and manage offshore geotechnical investigation contracts.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure surveys are planned and executed in accordance
with legislative requirements.
• In conjunction with 3rd party geophysical specialists, provide technical oversight to ensure Geophysical
Surveys are scoped, procured and managed to achieve technical objectives and ground risk mitigation.
• Detailed geotechnical designs and analysis of wind turbine foundations
• Develop Project Geotechnical Risk Registers and mitigation plans
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geotechnical technologies for offshore windfarms
• Conduct commercial-focused decision making
• Design review, desk study, and site evaluations

• Develop and maintain technical consultancy frameworks
• Interpret soil and rock parameters
• Contribute to safer wind farm projects and integrate EHS requirements
• Support mentoring and professional development of junior staff
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
• Minimum 7 years’ geotechnical engineering experience, especially marine
• Familiarity with offshore codes, standards, and best practices
• Experience in the scoping, specification and management of offshore geotechnical investigations
• Experience with soil mechanics analysis/design packages
• Experience with challenging ground conditions in marine environments
• Knowledge of recent geotechnical research for offshore wind
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Experience delivering major projects in multidisciplinary teams
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
• Efficient decision making and problem solving
• Strong organisational and commercial project management skills
• Flexible approach to work
Desirable
• Experience in the coordination and management of Geophysical surveys and datasets
Qualifications
Essential
• Level 8 Degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Structural Engineering, Engineering Geology or equivalent
Desirable:
• Level 9 Engineering Degree, or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered status in a recognized professional institution
• Project Management qualification

OneDAC, Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre.

Hybrid working will be a feature of this role, combining remote working with attendance at base for in-person
collaboration dependent on project requirements.
Please note that when the successful candidate is required to attend offices in Dublin, travel,
accommodation, and related expenses will not be reimbursed.
Expenses incurred for business travel - that are not normally incurred by the successful candidate in their normal
place of work - will be reimbursed.
All travel and accommodation expenses shall be agreed in advance with the line manager.
Claims for reimbursement of approved receipts must be via the contractor’s agency.
Mileage rates in respect of journeys carried out will not apply.

Safety
Contractors must comply with all Health and Safety Regulations and requirements pertaining to the
location where they are working and must comply with all directions and instructions from their
designated line management.
• Contractors shall wear full PPE, including Arc-resistant where required.
• Steel toe boots compliant with S3 EN ISO 20345.
• Safepass and manual handling training
• Contractors shall be provided with an unbranded hard hat and ear defenders where required.
• This PPE will be provided by suppliers but without any identifiable Logo.
• The PPE to be provided by does not include safety boots, gloves and eye protection. These are
standard items that contractors should have at their cost.
• Contractors must have up to date SafePass, manual handling training.
• GWO Sea Survival Training may become necessary during the course of the contract.
The successful candidate must have use of a personal ‘phone, laptop/PC and internet facilities, and must be
equipped to fully engage in a professional manner during the course of the engagement.
