Role Overview
As a PPA Originator, you will lead the origination and negotiation of offsite Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Australia, supporting growth across the Asia-Pacific. You will be a key member of the commercial and business development team, collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver bankable commercial agreements that enable major renewable investments. This is a high-visibility, strategic position with significant impact on Australia’s renewable energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
• Proactively identify and develop strategic partnerships with corporate and utility offtakers for PPA origination.
• Build and nurture enduring client relationships to expand the project pipeline.
• Create and deliver tailored commercial materials and proposals for solar and storage projects.
• Lead PPA and related contract negotiations, working alongside cross-functional teams (Development, M&A, Engineering, Legal).
• Draft, review, and finalize term sheets and full-form PPAs in coordination with legal counsel.
• Conduct quantitative analyses of pricing structures, commercial risks, and negotiation positions.
• Monitor Australian electricity market trends to inform PPA strategy and value optimization.
• Prepare business cases and presentations to support final investment decision (FID) approvals.
Requirements Essential
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in PPA origination, client engagement, and commercial contract negotiation within the renewables or energy sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage strong client relationships.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, able to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Highly autonomous, proactive, and results-driven working style.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel within Australia.
Valued Skills & Experience
• Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Background in energy trading, renewable development, or corporate energy procurement.
• Experience with energy-intensive users or electricity retailers.
• Expertise in financial modeling or analytical roles.
• Proficiency with interactive dashboards (e.g. PowerBI).
