Geismar Nutrien has a need for a contract chemical engineer for one year that could start as soon as they are available.
This opportunity is to backfill an engineer in my department that is being granted a temporary assignment at one of our Canadian sites.
The bullet points below highlight minimum expectations for the candidate:
5-10 years experience as a degreed Chemical Engineer.
Already have a TWIC or can easily get one.
Has good communication and relationship building skills with operations, maintenance, reliability and management
Perform routine monitoring of water treatment (Pretreatment, ROs, and Cooling Towers) and NH3 Storages (Two Tanks, Three Pumps, Refrigeration Compressors, Condensers, and a Flare)
Provide support to operations with troubleshooting in the areas mentioned above
Manage media and resin changes to ensure good water quality.
Provide process and operational support for capital projects in water treatment and NH3 storages
Provide some technical support for corrective action closure
Support the PSM process through utilization of MOCs, participation in PHAs and PSSRs as needed.
Be willing to support 12 hr shifts for NH3 plant startup with the NH3 plant engineer being on the opposite shift.
Competent in simulation tools as such Aspen Hysys, HTRI and PipeFlo for small heat exchanger design work in NH3 plant.
