Structural SME

Structural Subject Matter Expert – Data Centre & Renewable Infrastructure

London / Nordic Hybrid

£80,000 – £100,000 + benefits

A confidential developer leading Europe’s transition to 100% renewables?powered data centres is seeking a Structural SME to join its London?based technical team. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping major new developments integrating geothermal and hydro power, free cooling, and district?heat recovery systems.

The Opportunity

Act as the structural authority for large?scale, high?security campuses spanning 10–40 acres. You’ll deliver building frames, foundations, and seismic resilience solutions that integrate seamlessly with heavy M&E loads and renewable energy infrastructure. The role combines design leadership, consultant oversight, and QA/QC input across both brownfield and greenfield programmes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide final design sign?off and technical assurance on structural packages across multiple projects.
  • Develop internal structural design “products” and standards to guide project delivery.
  • Drive cost efficiency in foundation and superstructure solutions.
  • Oversee consultants from concept to construction, ensuring BIM coordination with civil and M&E teams.
  • Support Stage 4 design transitions and provide site support during build phases.

About You

  • 10+ years’ experience in structural design for large industrial or energy assets (data centres, power stations, refineries, airports).
  • Strong BIM capability using Revit or Navisworks.
  • Expertise in Eurocodes, heavy load?bearing structures, and ideally Nordic or seismic design standards.
  • Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or equivalent, preferred).
  • Proven ability to integrate structural design with complex mechanical and electrical systems.

Why Join

Be part of a team redefining the sustainability benchmark for European data centre infrastructure. This hybrid London?Nordic role offers real influence over technical standards and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on renewable?powered digital infrastructure.
