Position Summary:

The Commercial Manager, reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, will provide support and guidance in the commercial management of our project. This role includes overseeing contract administration methods, practices, and procedures, and establishing project practices that ensure sound contract management principles are applied.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle contractual issues and review all incoming contractual correspondence.
  • Review and update management on contractual risks and critical issues.
  • Identify, evaluate, and submit potential variations/claims.
  • Supervise the preparation of claims, extensions of time as needed on the project.
  • Address interpretation of contract conditions and dispute resolution.
  • Negotiate variations, claims, extensions of time and mitigate any contractual disputes.
  • Ensure all contract administration processes are adhered to as per company policy.
  • Monitor financial data related to contract performance and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthly cost recording and processing.

General Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all workplace health, safety, and environmental obligations.
  • Ensure all documentation is appropriately managed and stored.
  • Report issues and risks to management in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to approved budgets for purchasing and expenditure.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience delivering complex civil projects.
  • Experience in managing major contracts, variations, and extensions of time claims.
  • Experience in commercial contracts management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of software.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or Contract Management.
  • Valid Driver's License.
