Managing Director / Senior Operating Executive – Data Centers
United States (flexible, with travel across portfolio companies and global sites)
Firm Overview:
Our client is a leading global investments firm in digital infrastructure, including hyperscale data centers, fiber, towers, and edge platforms. As the firm continues to expand its portfolio, they seek a senior executive with proven full lifecycle data center experience and Big Tech leadership to drive value creation across existing assets and new investments.
Role Overview:
The Data Center Executive will serve as a senior operating leader within the platform, supporting both direct investments and portfolio company management. The ideal candidate will bring deep end-to-end experience across the data center lifecycle from site selection, design, engineering, procurement, and construction to operations, sustainability, and exit strategy. A background in hyperscale / Big Tech (Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Apple) is essential, ensuring alignment with the requirements of major cloud and AI customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Advise deal teams on new acquisitions, JV structures, and greenfield opportunities in the digital infrastructure space.
Full Lifecycle Execution: Oversee and guide portfolio companies through site selection, design, EPC delivery, commissioning, and operations.
Commercial Growth: Build and maintain executive relationships with hyperscale / Big Tech customers to secure long-term commitments.
Value Creation: Implement best practices in design standardization, procurement, supply chain, and operational efficiency to maximize returns.
Sustainability & ESG: Drive innovation in renewable integration, liquid cooling, hybrid energy solutions, and carbon reduction initiatives.
Governance & Oversight: Serve on boards or as an advisor to portfolio company leadership, ensuring alignment with investment strategy.
Candidate Profile:
Experience: 15–25 years in data centers / mission-critical infrastructure, including senior leadership at Big Tech (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Apple) or a top-tier operator.
Track Record: Delivered multi-billion-dollar hyperscale and AI-ready data center programs
Leadership: Ability to manage global cross-functional teams, EPC contractors, and operational leaders.
Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills with governments, utilities, and enterprise customers.
Technical Depth: Knowledge of data center engineering, procurement, operations, and emerging technologies (AI, automation, sustainability).
