Field Service Manager

Japan (Remote with 50% Domestic Travel)


A fast-growing international clean energy technology company is seeking a Field Service Manager to support the delivery and technical service operations of renewable energy and energy storage projects across Japan. This role will work closely with regional technical teams and global headquarters to ensure high-quality service delivery, technical training, and operational support for project deployments.


The position is remote within Japan with regular travel to project sites and customer locations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between regional service teams and global engineering teams
  • Coordinate with headquarters to obtain technical information and provide support to onsite service personnel
  • Organise and deliver technical training sessions for field engineers and service technicians
  • Coordinate customer-facing training programs in collaboration with global technical training teams
  • Provide technical consultation to internal teams during project bidding and tender preparation
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for technical issues occurring during project operation
  • Develop and maintain technical training materials and service documentation for the regional team
  • Ensure field teams are properly trained on commissioning procedures, maintenance requirements, and safety standards
  • Support continuous improvement of service delivery processes and technical capabilities
  • Provide onsite technical support during key project phases when required
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or related discipline)
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in technical support, field service, or engineering roles within renewable energy or power systems
  • Experience in solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or related power infrastructure is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, troubleshooting, and product system integration
  • Experience delivering technical training or preparing technical training materials
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Business-level English proficiency required
  • Fluent Japanese language skills required
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
