About the Opportunity


Spencer Ogden are supporting a major UK infrastructure construction project in the search for an experienced Fire Safety Advisor to join a dedicated site-based Fire Safety Team.


This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a complex, high-risk, multi-contractor environment on a nationally significant energy programme.


The Role


The Fire Safety Advisor will report to the Fire Safety Manager and provide professional fire safety advice and assurance across the construction site.


The role is focused on ensuring fire safety standards are established, implemented, and maintained in line with UK legislation and industry best practice.


Key responsibilities include:


Providing fire safety advice and guidance to the Principal Contractor and wider contractor base


Supporting the development and implementation of fire safety policies, procedures, and management systems


Conducting Fire Safety Assurance Audits and inspections across contractor-controlled areas


Undertaking suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments


Reviewing Fire Risk Assessments and DSEAR assessments completed by contractors


Advising Project Managers and design teams on building fire strategies


Supporting investigations into fire-related incidents


Assisting with reporting and analysis of fire safety performance data


Acting as an advisor to Health & Safety groups on general and process fire safety matters


Promoting a positive fire safety culture across a large and diverse workforce


Experience & Qualifications


Essential:


Working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements


Experience within construction or complex industrial environments


Proven background in undertaking fire risk assessments and fire safety audits


Understanding of process fire risk and high-risk activities


Knowledge of DSEAR implications


Strong organisational and communication skills


Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced construction setting


Understanding of risk assessment principles, including dynamic risk assessment


NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate (or equivalent)


Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Fire Engineers)


Desirable:


Degree or diploma-level qualification (or equivalent experience)


Experience developing and implementing fire safety policies and plans
