Job Title: LP/HP & Cascades Expert – Gas Compressors (Biomass, Fertilisers, Compressed Bio Gas)
Location: Global (Remote), with 2 weeks quarterly travel to Asia
Reports to: CNB Operations & Tech Lead
Company: Fortune 500 Bioenergy Leader ($120B Revenue)
Contract: 2-year fixed-term (renewable)
Position Overview
Join a global team scaling up from under 10 to over 1,000 greenfield CBG (Compressed Biogas) production units, each producing 20 tons of biogas and 80–100 tons of fermented organic manure per day. As the LP/HP and Cascades Expert, you will specialize in the design, operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of low-pressure (LP), high-pressure (HP), and cascade gas compressor systems for biomass, fertiliser, and CBG applications. This strategic and operational role includes technology evaluation, SOP development, site visits, team training, and knowledge transfer for global projects
Key Responsibilities
Compressor System Design & Evaluation
Lead pre-FEED studies and evaluate LP/HP and cascade compressor systems for biogas, fertiliser, and biomass processing, ensuring compatibility with diverse feedstocks and process requirements.
Assess and select appropriate compressor technologies (reciprocating, screw, etc.) for raw and purified biogas, including integration with purification and storage systems.
Operational Optimization & Troubleshooting
Develop and implement SOPs for safe, efficient operation and maintenance of compressor packages, including start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
Troubleshoot performance issues, identify root causes of failures, and recommend solutions for reliability and efficiency improvements in both LP and HP operations, as well as cascade filling and offloading.
Cascades Management
Oversee the design and operation of gas storage and cascade systems for CBG distribution, ensuring compliance with safety, pressure, and flow requirements.
Advise on the integration of cascades with compressor units for optimal gas transfer, storage, and delivery to end-users or retail outlets.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
Train site teams in Asia and globally on compressor operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety protocols, including regulatory compliance and best practices.
Develop technical manuals, training materials, and failure-mode analysis guides for company-wide deployment.
Strategic Advisory
Advise on vendor selection, CAPEX/OPEX optimization, and technology partnerships for compressor and cascade systems in large-scale CBG and fertiliser operations.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support greenfield project design, commissioning, and ramp-up phases.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
10+ years in gas compressor systems (LP/HP/cascade) for biogas, fertiliser, or industrial gas applications.
Proven track record in compressor selection, system integration, and troubleshooting in large-scale bioenergy or process industries.
Skills:
Expertise in compressor system design, operation, and maintenance (reciprocating/screw compressors, cascade storage, safety systems).
Proficiency in process simulation, CAD, and compressor control systems.
Strong communication and training skills; ability to work globally and cross-functionally.
