Role: IT/OT Infrastructure Engineer
Contract: 12 months
Location: Poland (Travel required up to 3 days/month to Warsaw or ?eba)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IT/OT Infrastructure Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and development of IT and OT systems for a major offshore wind farm. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of critical infrastructure, including control, monitoring, telecommunications, and cybersecurity systems supporting key assets such as turbines, substations, and the operational base.
You will act as a technical bridge between internal operational teams, corporate IT, and external technology providers, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of industrial IT and OT systems.
Key Responsibilities
IT/OT Operations & Maintenance
Administer and maintain IT/OT infrastructure, including servers, network devices, SCADA, and voice communication systems.
Ensure high availability and security of operational environments, aligned with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Monitor system health, analyse logs, and use diagnostics tools to ensure optimal performance.
Manage system documentation, including network architecture, configurations, incidents, and procedures.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Oversee cybersecurity of OT systems in line with standards such as IEC 62443, ISO 27001, and NIS2.
Support audits and compliance efforts through documentation and implementation of best practices.
Collaboration & Support
Interface with corporate IT to align OT systems with broader IT infrastructure.
Collaborate with technology vendors (e.g. Siemens, GE, Vestas) on troubleshooting and system updates.
Provide technical input on IT/OT/SCADA to the O&M team, Asset Integrity, and Performance Management functions.
Liaise with the Transmission System Operator (TSO) and external service providers as needed.
Project Support
Participate in commissioning activities and be available for occasional site visits for inspections, maintenance, or upgrades.
Technical Skills & Experience
Required:
Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, IEC 61850).
Strong networking skills: routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, redundancy (preferably based on Cisco solutions).
Experience with Windows Server, enterprise Linux (e.g. Active Directory), virtualization platforms (VMware), and backup tools.
Familiarity with industrial devices (PLCs, RTUs, IEDs) from vendors such as Siemens, ABB, Schneider, and GE.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in OT environments.
Proficiency in technical English (spoken and written).
Preferred:
Previous experience in offshore environments or renewable energy projects.
Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, or IEC 62443.
GWO certification or willingness to undertake offshore safety training.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in IT/OT systems maintenance, preferably in energy, offshore, or industrial environments.
Proven hands-on experience with SCADA systems, industrial networking, and infrastructure management.
