About the Role
A leading organisation in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Senior Architect and Building Compliance Specialist to support the delivery of large-scale electricity infrastructure projects. The position is embedded within the Civil, Environmental & Renewable Engineering team, which manages a wide-ranging portfolio including:
Transmission and Distribution networks
Flexible and Replanting Thermal Generation
Onshore and Offshore Wind
Solar Energy
Battery Energy Storage
Hydrogen Projects
This role requires a high-calibre architectural professional to lead design efforts, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the development and maintenance of energy infrastructure across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architectural design function on assigned projects from feasibility to construction.
Oversee safety and quality performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and budget.
Coordinate external design consultants during design and construction phases.
Administer contracts during construction.
Develop and manage implementation plans covering scope, programme, and cost.
Ensure compliance with Planning, Fire Safety, Building Control, and Health & Safety legislation.
Maintain accurate project documentation in line with internal procedures.
Provide expert technical advice on:
Feasibility & Design
Building Control Compliance
Sustainable Design
Contract Management
Act as Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
Lead and review consultant outputs, and resolve emerging technical issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
NFQ Level 8 degree in Architecture or equivalent.
Registered Architect status (as per Building Control Act 2007).
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a consulting architect with a strong design portfolio.
In-depth knowledge of Irish regulations, planning, and building legislation.
Proven experience in delivering complex, large-scale architectural projects.
Strong leadership in managing in-house and external design teams.
Experience with contract administration and project certification duties.
Familiarity with safety roles including PSDP responsibilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a client-focused mindset.
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
Working Arrangements
Location: Primarily based at offices near Dublin Airport.
Hybrid Work Model: 1–2 days per week on-site; remainder remote (subject to review).
Travel: Occasional travel to project sites will be required.
Expenses: Travel or accommodation costs for attendance at the primary office location will not be reimbursed.
Equipment: Candidates must have access to a personal phone, computer, and reliable internet connection to work professionally from home.
