General Purpose
The Tool Coordinator is a critical member of the on-site team supporting the construction phase of building and connecting a wind power plant to the grid. This role assists with site setup, transport, installation, mechanical completion, commissioning, and site close-out of a project. The Tool Coordinator follows defined processes and procedures for safety, inventory management, and documentation, with a strong focus on construction contractual tooling and additional tooling requests.
Responsibilities
• Support site safety policies and environmental compliance. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identify hazards, and participate in daily safety meetings. Complete required safety training on schedule.
• Manage end-to-end construction inventory and tooling movement transactions, including receiving site containers, conducting cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, creating delivery notes for tool returns, and coordinating container returns. Maintain physical and electronic inventory control, ship and receive large tools, track serial numbers, and create and monitor purchase orders or purchase requests for tooling-related items.
• Communicate daily with the Construction Manager (CM) and Lead Technicians to ensure tools are available on site. Assist with fulfilling project requests and resolving issues in a timely and cost-effective manner. Establish appropriate communication with site personnel and collaborate with technicians to maintain inventory control. Support compliance with approved processes and assist with system troubleshooting where needed.
• Maintain timely and accurate return of turbine component shipping fixtures to the appropriate warehouse or facility following export procedures when necessary. Support the return and inspection of parts containers and complete required documentation within internal systems.
• Complete transactions in a timely and accurate manner, including goods receiving, tooling inspections within project management systems, and daily time entry.
• Perform administrative tasks related to site setup, including tool tracking, shortage reporting, and monitoring tooling expenditures. Work directly with project leadership to manage lost or damaged tools and support cost avoidance initiatives.
• Follow established work instructions when completing job functions and escalate issues when needed.
• Support other project sites as required and contribute to process improvements. Communicate regularly with field support leadership and project site teams. Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the organization.
Essential Functions
• Conduct physical inventory counts at construction project sites
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and inventory systems such as SAP or similar platforms
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in English
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to travel up to 90% for construction projects
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Maintain supplied company equipment required to perform job duties
Education, Training, and Skills Required
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience supporting wind project site operations or similar construction site support functions
• Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP or similar inventory management software
• Demonstrated experience in logistics coordination, scheduling, planning, and inventory control
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) and inventory management systems
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Effective time management and organizational skills; Lean or continuous improvement experience preferred
• Ability to travel approximately 90% as required; valid driver’s license required. Passport for international travel preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this role, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. The position may require travel to remote construction project sites. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and push/pull up to 50 lbs. Tolerance for working in varying environmental conditions and temperature ranges is required.
Work Environment
The work environment may include both office settings and active construction project sites. Office environments typically have moderate noise levels. Construction project sites may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, varying temperatures, and other field-related environments.
