This position reports to the Supervisor, Technical Training and is located in Geismar, Louisiana, and is not available for remote work.
What You Will Do
Support job function training, assessments, competency, and compliance training needs across the site
Strategically select appropriate training methods (simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes, blended) and solutions to ensure all operational staff has skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform job duties at the required competency levels
Market available training opportunities to employees and provide necessary information
Conduct organization/department/individual needs assessments and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
Design and prepare educational aids and materials
Assess instructional effectiveness and summarize evaluation reports determining the impact of training on employee skills and business needs
Provide input on developmental/competency gaps required for technician promotion or career progression
Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design. This includes the design of content arising out of MOCs, RCIs, and Lessons Learnt
Oversee management and use of the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and OTS room
Provide input for identifying, defining, and assessing present and future training needs for employees via Learning Needs Assessment and Analysis for areas of responsibility
Audit training content/materials to ensure materials are evergreen with site and compliance requirements
Provide coaching on content development and training methodology to SMEs, area leaders, etc.
Advise training Manager on local training opportunities and maintain relationships with external training vendors
Assist in the implementation of training program initiatives and updates resulting from ETQ-based recommendations
Implement, track, and monitor the Operations Phase Program inclusive of the Operator in Training initiatives. Coordinate and maintain certification programs for operations
Facilitate training and training programs as necessary, including as needed arising out of MOCs and Incident Investigation
Manage and ensure current and accurate records retention is available in Learning Management System, and that current LMS Success Factors is being fully utilized
What You Will Bring
Bachelor of Science in Education, Human Resource Management, Engineering or equivalent or a Certificate or Diploma in Process Plant Operations or Production Technology
Certificate or diploma in Adult Learning or Facilitation offered by an accredited body will be an asset
Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably heavy industry, or energy sector
3-5 years of active experience as a certified trainer/assessor
Working knowledge of process plant operational principles
Train-the-Trainer certifications in a technical discipline
Experience using a Learning Management System is an asset
Competency assessment certification coupled with experience in a technical discipline
Knowledge of basic concepts of knowledge transfer, content development and delivery, curriculum, and training design
Understanding of the complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate)
Demonstrate positive safety behavior and safety leadership
Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
