Civil engineer

Role Overview

The client is seeking an experienced civil engineering professional to support a major energy infrastructure project in Germany. The focus of the role is on design coordination, tender preparation, and support during the contract award phase, in accordance with HOAI service phases LP3 and LP5–LP7. This is a pre-construction role with a strong likelihood of extension into the construction phase.

Scope of Work

The role covers early design and execution planning, including construction site setup, coordination of civil design inputs, and review and optimisation of bills of quantities. Responsibilities also include preparing complete tender documentation, supporting requests for quotation, evaluating contractor offers, and participating in negotiations as part of the contract award process. Close coordination with planners, contractors, and grid operators is required throughout.

Required Background

Candidates should have at least eight years of experience in civil engineering, with strong knowledge of HOAI processes, particularly LP3 and LP5–LP7. Fluency in German is essential. Experience on large-scale energy infrastructure projects—such as HVDC, STATCOM, or AIS/GIS substations—is required, ideally gained while working with general contractors, TSOs, or engineering and planning consultancies.

Project Details

The ideal start date is January 2026, with an initial contract running until the end of 2026 and a high probability of extension into the construction phase.
