Data Centre Design Lead Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE

Due to the continued growth of our Data Centre company, an opportunity exists within our development team to be part of shaping Macquarie Data Centres AI and cloud designs and engineering for our current and future data centre builds. This includes our Superwest Data centre project, which is currently under construction, as well as playing a key role in future site selection and acquisition opportunities.

As an experienced Data Centre Design Engineer, you will take a leading role as a specialist in the field, supporting the delivery of data centre projects and co-ordinating the production of feasibility studies, proposals and managing design deliverables. As a technical advisor, you will work closely with consultants and clients throughout the lifecycle of a data centre project including tenders and bids, initial concept generation, planning, construction stage design, to ensure delivery of key construction project requirements to industry leading standards.

Gaining an understanding of the technical requirements required by our hyperscalers customers and prospects will ensure these are incorporated into future expansion design plans.

Your role will collaborate closely with a wide range of teams to deliver new and expansion projects efficiently and effectively. In addition to this, you’ll contribute to all aspects of electrical design from initial business cases and feasibility studies to long-term facilities management and expansions.

Good communication skills are a must. Collaborating with the senior management team and Executive to advise on key recommendations and decisions with regards to Data Centre design and engineering.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Having gained extensive experience in Data Centres and Critical Environments, you will be a qualified electrical engineer ideally with mechanical engineering experience.

With a strong understanding of data centre technologies, including; Critical LV Switchgear arrangements, UPS systems, Standby Generation, Critical Cooling Systems inc. Chilled Water, Fire Suppression, Control and Monitoring Systems (e.g. BMS, CMS and EMS etc).

You will take the lead on the technical delivery of the works. The suitable candidate will be capable of working both independently and as part of a team as required for the delivery of a project.

Your insights and ability to establish productive, professional relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external are key to the success of this role. You will also have understanding and experience of working with Data Centre standards.
