Project Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a Thermal & Energy Project Manager to oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of cooling and gas-based energy systems in hyperscale and colocation data centers. This role integrates mechanical cooling, thermal dynamics, and natural gas/alternative energy solutions to ensure facilities operate with high resilience, low carbon footprint, and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end project management of thermal and gas energy infrastructure for large-scale data centers.

Design and oversee gas-based distributed energy solutions (e.g., gas turbines, CHP, fuel cells, microgrids) integrated with cooling systems.

Manage installation and commissioning of HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, liquid cooling, and hybrid thermal systems.

Develop models to optimize PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and energy efficiency metrics.

Partner with utilities, regulators, and energy suppliers to secure reliable gas and power supply contracts.

Drive innovation in thermal and energy efficiency — including liquid cooling, heat recovery, and hybrid gas-renewable systems.

Collaborate with finance, investment, and operations teams to evaluate capex/opex trade-offs and ROI on energy projects.

Monitor operations and provide continuous improvement strategies to reduce costs and emissions.

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and sustainability regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience in data centers, power generation, or mission-critical facilities with focus on thermal and energy systems.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling technologies, and gas-based distributed energy resources (DERs).

Experience with CHP (Combined Heat & Power), CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine), fuel cells, or advanced gas-to-power systems.

Familiarity with renewable energy integration (solar, wind, battery storage) alongside gas assets.

Skilled in project management, vendor management, and contract negotiation.

Understanding of energy market dynamics, PPA structures, and utility interconnections.

PMP certification or equivalent a plus.
