Project PREI (Lead SAP) – Offshore Wind Project
Location: Initially remote with site visits (Mon–Fri); transitioning to rotational role at the O&M Control Centre in ?eba, Poland (Q3/Q4 2025)
Reports to: Lead SAP / Duty HV Control Engineer
Languages Required: Fluent in English and Polish
Contract Type: Rotational (7/7 or 14/14) and Remote Phase – Dual rate requested
Role Overview
This role sits within the Electrical Package of a major offshore wind project. The HV Control Engineer (and Deputy) is responsible for the safe operation, switching, and monitoring of the project's high voltage electrical systems. The position plays a critical part in coordinating with the TSO/DSO, managing SCADA operations, ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations, and supporting operational readiness as the wind farm progresses towards commissioning and O&M phases.
Key Responsibilities
System Operation & Monitoring
Operate and monitor the Offshore Wind Power (OWP) plant via SCADA and other control systems.
Perform remote switching operations and maintain system records.
Monitor wind farm SCADA systems and respond to alarms and faults.
Manage power distribution and maintain network availability and security.
Coordinate with TSO/DSO on dispatch, boundary coordination, and safety precautions.
Ensure a safe HV workplace and safe execution of 1st energizations.
Safety & Compliance
Uphold and enforce Electrical Safety Rules (ESR), including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) and demarcation procedures.
Act as Person in Control of the Electrical Installation (PCEI) when delegated.
Ensure safety of personnel through timely response to abnormal system conditions.
Initiate emergency response procedures as required.
Train O&M personnel on operational safety and control systems.
Promote a strong safety culture and act as an ambassador for ESR compliance.
Planning & Documentation
Plan and prepare for electrical works, including review of RAMS and Electrical Work Requests.
Issue, monitor, and approve electrical permits-to-work (ePTW).
Authorize and record all switching operations and removal of safety precautions.
Develop, review, and issue switching schedules and associated safety documentation.
Maintain operational logs and handover reports.
Support the development and implementation of the Wind Electrical Safety Rules (WESR) and related procedures.
Commissioning & Technical Support
Participate in FAT/SAT testing and commissioning activities to gain familiarity with the system.
Provide technical support during HV commissioning and operational readiness.
Contribute to electrical system reviews and risk assessments.
Manage HV safety and technical interfaces during all phases of the project lifecycle.
Deputy HV Control Engineer Specific Duties
Deputize for the HV Control Engineer on Duty during absences or as required.
Maintain real-time knowledge of all ongoing HV work and system priorities.
Lead by example and act as a role model in safety and operational excellence.
Provide rapid fault restoration and assist in returning the system to normal operations.
Support the creation and review of safety procedures, switching instructions, and process documentation.
Requirements
Demonstrable experience in high-voltage commissioning and operations under electrical safety rules.
Strong working knowledge of SCADA systems, switching schedules, electrical safety documentation, and relevant regulations.
Experience with safety and control processes such as PtW, LOTO, and WESR.
Proficiency in managing safe energization and operational transitions in an offshore wind environment.
Fluency in English and Polish (mandatory).
Flexibility to work in both remote and rotational capacities depending on project phase.
Work Phases & Compensation
Remote Phase: Mon–Fri with occasional site visits (until O&M Control Centre in ?eba is operational).
Rotation Phase: Expected to transition in Q3/Q4 2025 to a rotational pattern (7/7 or 14/14).
