About the Company:

Join one of the world’s most respected commercial real estate services and investment firms. With a global portfolio spanning mission-critical infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to manage the day-to-day technical operations of a high-performance data center facility in Tokyo.


Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and lead all engineering operations, maintenance, and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems within the data center


Ensure uninterrupted operation of all critical systems through proactive monitoring, preventative maintenance, and rapid response to incidents


Coordinate and supervise contractors, OEMs, and vendors during routine and emergency maintenance


Implement operational best practices and safety procedures in line with Japanese local regulations and global data center standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, etc.)


Support capacity planning, infrastructure upgrades, and lifecycle management of assets


Lead root cause analysis for system failures and propose long-term corrective actions


Maintain and update all documentation, such as MOPs, SOPs, drawings, and compliance records


Collaborate with regional teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with SLAs and KPIs


Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians on shift operations and technical troubleshooting


Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline


Minimum 5 years’ experience in Data Center operations or mission-critical environments (e.g., banking, telecom, hyperscale, colocation)


Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs, CRACs, BMS/EMS, fire suppression, etc.


Familiarity with Japanese building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards


Fluent in English and Japanese (business level proficiency preferred)


Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills


Certifications such as PMP, LEED, or data center-specific credentials (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, CFM) are advantageous
