Job Title: Planning and Environmental Specialist Lead – UK
Location: Glasgow (with travel to Scottish project sites)
Type: 6-Month Contract, Full-Time
Hours: 08:30 – 16:45, Monday to Friday
Spencer Ogden is recruiting an experienced Planning and Environmental Specialist Lead to join a leading renewable energy company. This is an exciting opportunity to manage planning and environmental consenting and compliance across a portfolio of onshore and offshore wind projects in the UK, with a particular focus on Scotland.
The Role
As the Planning and Environmental Specialist Lead, you will:
Manage planning and environmental compliance activities, including discharge of planning conditions for consented UK wind farms.
Lead consultations with key stakeholders and statutory authorities (e.g., local authorities, NatureScot, SEPA, Marine Scotland).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare and submit planning and environmental applications in line with UK legislation.
Procure and oversee consultant services to support project consenting and compliance.
Provide expert advice on planning and environmental matters throughout project development.
Troubleshoot planning and environmental challenges and ensure projects meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
7+ years’ experience in planning and/or environmental consenting for major infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of UK and Scottish planning and environmental regulations.
Expertise in consenting processes, including Section 36, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Habitats Regulations assessments.
Proven stakeholder management skills and experience leading public consultations.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
Professional communication skills at all levels and flexible approach to work.
Full clean driving licence.
Desirable:
Experience delivering environmental consent requirements, including marine infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of Environmental Permits, Marine Consents, and supporting surveys.
Chartered status or membership of a recognized professional planning institute.
Project Management qualification.
Qualifications:
Essential: Level 8 Planning, Environmental, or Science degree (or equivalent).
Desirable: Level 9 degree.
