The Role
The Director of Power Origination for Data Centers - will be responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing energy supply agreements to support large-scale data center projects across North America. This individual will lead market engagement with utilities, independent power producers, and renewable developers to secure capacity and optimize long-term energy strategies for mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Originate, negotiate, and close power purchase agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, and capacity contracts to serve hyperscale and enterprise data center clients.
Build and manage relationships with utilities, IPPs, renewable developers, and energy trading desks.
Evaluate wholesale power market opportunities across ISOs/RTOs (PJM, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO, SPP, etc.).
Structure innovative commercial solutions balancing cost, sustainability, and reliability.
Support due diligence and contract negotiations for greenfield, acquisition, and expansion projects.
Partner with internal teams (development, design, construction, finance) to align power strategies with project timelines.
Monitor market dynamics including basis risk, congestion, carbon credit opportunities, and regulatory changes.
Develop executive-ready materials to support investment committees and client decision-making.
Qualifications
8+ years in power origination, energy trading, or structured transactions, preferably with experience serving large load clients (data centers, industrials, utilities).
Strong knowledge of ISO/RTO market structures, bilateral contracting, and renewable integration.
Proven track record of negotiating and executing complex energy agreements.
Ability to evaluate LCOE, LCOD, IRR scenarios, and provide strategic guidance to commercial teams.
Exceptional relationship-building skills across the energy value chain.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
