Position: Director of Procurement – Energy Infrastructure (Remote, with Travel)
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Procurement to join a mission-driven team focused on the development and delivery of utility-scale energy infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable development, responsible resource management, and the growth of a forward-thinking private enterprise with a strong ethical foundation.
Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Construction, the Director will take ownership of all procurement functions supporting the successful execution of large-scale renewable power projects.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Contractor Relationships: Build and sustain partnerships with top-tier equipment manufacturers and EPC firms to ensure consistent quality, pricing, and delivery reliability.
Strategic Sourcing: Identify opportunities for long-term agreements and preferred vendor relationships to optimize costs and secure supply availability.
RFP Management: Lead end-to-end procurement processes—including issuing RFPs, evaluating bids, negotiating terms, and executing contracts for major equipment and services.
Specification Development: Collaborate with internal and external experts to standardize technical specifications for critical project components.
Quality Oversight: Define and implement robust third-party QA/QC programs to ensure compliance, reliability, and performance of sourced materials and equipment.
Order & Contract Management: Manage the full lifecycle of purchase orders post-award—overseeing invoicing, logistics, storage, warranties, and enforcement of contract terms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project directors and engineering teams to align procurement strategies with broader project goals and financial targets.
Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve challenges related to product quality, delays, or supply chain disruptions in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
8+ years in the power generation or energy infrastructure industry, with at least 5 years in a procurement leadership role
Demonstrated success in managing procurement for complex, capital-intensive projects
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and commercial skills
In-depth understanding of procurement best practices, construction processes, and major power equipment markets
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects
Additional Information
This position is based in Houston or Boston, with regular travel required (up to 50%), including international travel as needed.
Ideal candidates will have experience navigating both domestic and international supply chains for utility-scale energy projects.
