About the Opportunity

A leading global renewable energy organisation is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to support the development and execution of large-scale energy projects across Japan. This role plays a critical part in shaping commercial strategy, leading negotiations, and driving complex deal execution across high-value infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation of RFQs, tenders, and customer requirements, identifying commercial risks and value drivers
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to optimise project competitiveness and profitability
  • Coordinate cross-functional bid teams across sales, engineering, legal, finance, and project delivery
  • Own the preparation and submission of commercial proposals aligned to client and internal requirements
  • Lead contract drafting, review, and negotiation (equipment and service agreements) through to closure
  • Manage negotiations with customers, consultants, and external stakeholders on complex, high-value deals
  • Present commercial proposals, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to internal leadership
  • Drive governance processes, securing approvals from internal risk and management boards
  • Support post-contract execution, including change orders, variations, and contractual notices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple regions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken)
  • Proven experience in commercial management, contract negotiation, or deal execution within energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
  • Strong track record of negotiating high-value / multi-million contracts
  • Experience working within cross-functional and international teams in a matrix organisation
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and execute deal strategies
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure and manage multiple complex priorities
  • High attention to detail with a structured and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including managing virtual or project-based teams
