Summary:

We are currently seeking a Drilling Fluid Engineer to join our team in Queensland. This role is crucial for our operations, especially in the context of our B54 project focusing on shallow coal seam gas wells using water-based mud systems. The ideal candidate will be a local talent who can meet regulatory hiring standards and contribute to our regional client management initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement drilling fluid systems and products for both offshore and onshore operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the drilling fluids during operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with geologists and other specialists to adjust fluid specifications based on geological findings.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting solutions during drilling operations.
  • Prepare detailed reports on drilling fluid performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage the inventory of drilling fluids and chemicals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Drilling Fluid Engineer, particularly with water-based mud systems. Experience with synthetic mud is a plus but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of the oil and gas industry dynamics and operational requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on personality fit for team cohesion.
  • Local candidates preferred due to regulatory hiring challenges.
