The Opportunity
We are currently supporting a leading Nordic energy provider in their search for a Relay Protection and Testing Specialist to support key investment projects within their hydropower generation portfolio. You will be part of a skilled project engineering team focused on modernising and maintaining clean energy production infrastructure across Finland and Sweden.
This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role with varied responsibilities in the field of power system protection, testing, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Programming, configuration, and testing of relay protection systems for hydropower plants
Commissioning of turbines, generators, and excitation equipment
Testing and commissioning of medium and high voltage systems
Perform system measurements, conduct fault investigations, and troubleshoot as needed
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in project execution
Contribute to the design and implementation of electrical systems in capital projects
Ideal Profile
Degree in Electrical Engineering (Engineer or M.Sc. (Tech.))
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in relay protection systems
Strong knowledge of testing & commissioning practices in power generation or industrial settings
Confident working independently under time pressure
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience with IEC 61850 relays is highly valued
Familiarity with hydropower processes is an asset
Willingness to travel within the Nordics
Fluent in Finnish and English
