Senior Planning Engineer (EPC / Gas Treatment Units)


Location: Charenton-le-Pont, France

Contract: 12-month assignment (start date: 15/12/2025)

Day Rate: €600–€850 (TBC)

Workload: Approx. 3–4 days per week on-site

About the Role


Spencer Ogden is supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to oversee planning activities for complex EP/EPC gas treatment unit projects. These long-cycle industrial projects typically run for around 3 years, with budgets ranging from €50M to €500M.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for project scheduling, progress measurement, and planning control within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities


Develop full project schedule baselines and progress measurement systems aligned with the company WBS


Integrate and coordinate all project activities, including those from customers and stakeholders


Work with discipline leads to validate dates, durations, dependencies, and activity weighting


Perform critical path analysis and propose mitigation or recovery plans


Collaborate closely with Project Engineers and participate in project review and coordination meetings


Conduct monthly schedule updates and maintain progress measurement sheets


Execute progress analysis, including look-ahead planning and delay assessment


Recommend corrective actions to maintain project performance


Support planning and project control to ensure deadlines and progress milestones are achieved


Assist the Project Manager in defining execution strategy and structuring project activities


Provide continuous visibility on schedule status and overall project progress


Required Experience & Skills


10+ years’ experience in large industrial EPC projects


Primavera P6 expertise (mandatory)


Strong understanding of engineering workflows, including:


P&ID interpretation


3D model input requirements


E&I cycles


Background in the chemical, oil & gas, or energy sectors


Fluent English


Proficiency with Google Sheets (a plus)


Key soft skills: proactive mindset, strong communication, curiosity
