Lead Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Design

  • Lead the development of process engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, heat & mass balances, data sheets, control philosophies, and simulations.

  • Ensure designs comply with technology requirements, process safety, environmental regulations, and business objectives.

  • Partner with R&D, EPCs, vendors, and operations teams to deliver robust, scalable designs.

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Act as the technical authority through FEED, detailed design, procurement, and construction phases.

  • Support commissioning and start-up activities, including operational readiness and SOP development.

  • Contribute to HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and constructability reviews, ensuring process safety and operability.

  • Represent engineering in internal cross-functional forums and with external stakeholders.

Scale-Up & Technology Transfer

  • Lead efforts in process optimisation, debottlenecking, and yield improvement.

  • Support the successful transition of technology from pilot/demo facilities to commercial-scale plants.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide mentorship and technical direction to engineers and cross-functional teams.

  • Coordinate with feedstock, utilities, operations, and sustainability teams for full process integration.

  • Engage with licensors, regulators, and certification bodies (e.g. ASTM D7566 for SAF approvals).


Qualifications & Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in renewable fuels, refining, or advanced process industries.

  • 5+ years in a senior/lead process engineer or team leadership role.

  • Proven track record in technology scale-up, FOAK/pilot or demo operations, and project execution.

  • Strong knowledge of reforming, Fischer-Tropsch, and upgrading technologies.

  • Experience with process safety practices (HAZOP, FMEA) and project management.

  • Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with process control systems (PLC/DCS) and field instrumentation preferred.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (site visits, commissioning, stakeholder engagement).

Desirable

  • Experience with SAF pathways (HEFA, FT-SPK, ATJ), renewable fuels, or bio-based chemicals.

  • Understanding of Singapore’s industrial and environmental regulatory frameworks (NEA, SCDF, JTC).
