About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to oversee and manage all aspects of grid reporting, energy capacity reviews, grid market intelligence, and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) management. This role is essential for ensuring our projects comply with National Grid requirements, meet technical and regulatory standards, and maximize operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Grid Connection & Compliance: Conduct feasibility studies, manage applications for grid connections, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations across various voltage networks.
  • Energy Capacity Reviews: Perform technical assessments to determine energy capacity and grid connection requirements, and develop network reinforcement strategies.
  • Grid Market Intelligence: Stay updated with emerging grid codes, policies, and technical standards, and recommend improvements.
  • DNO Management: Maintain strong relationships with Distribution Network Operators and manage grid connection agreements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project development and implementation.
  • Innovation and Efficiency: Identify and implement improvements in grid integration, energy optimization, and system reliability.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of electricity transmission and distribution networks in the UK.
  • Expertise in power system analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and experience in substation design, protection & control, and system automation.
  • Ability to interpret network studies and propose engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • Experience in managing grid connection agreements and compliance processes.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is desirable.
