Our client is a data centre operator with a new facility going live in Taiwan in September. They are hiring a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert to support final commissioning and lead mechanical operations once the site is live.


The Role

You will serve as the primary technical authority for all critical mechanical and cooling systems on site. You will support the commissioning team through go-live and then take ownership of day-to-day mechanical operations, maintenance, and incident response.


What You Will Do


Critical Mechanical Systems

  • Own the operation and maintenance of chillers, CRAC units, ACMV systems, cooling towers, hydraulic systems, and associated pipework and controls
  • Perform and supervise hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical faults and cooling failures
  • Support witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems ahead of go-live


Change and Procedure Management

  • Execute and review Method of Procedures (MOPs) for all mechanical work
  • Apply LOTO protocols consistently and enforce compliance across vendors and contractors
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of SOPs and EOPs for mechanical systems

Incident and Risk Management

  • Lead root cause analysis for mechanical and cooling incidents
  • Escalate and document incidents within required timeframes
  • Identify mechanical safety hazards and implement corrective actions

Maintenance and Asset Management

  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance programmes for all mechanical assets
  • Monitor system performance data to detect degradation early
  • Track asset condition and recommend timely upgrades or replacements

Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate mechanical drawings, P&ID diagrams, and maintenance records
  • Ensure all mechanical systems meet regulatory and certification requirements in Taiwan

Vendor Management

  • Supervise and qualify mechanical contractors and vendors working on site
  • Ensure all third-party work meets critical environment standards

On-Call Requirements

  • Available 24x7 for after-hours, public holiday, and emergency support

What You Need

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent discipline
  • 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience with critical mechanical and cooling systems in data centres, industrial facilities, or mission-critical environments
  • Strong working knowledge of chillers, CRAC units, ACMV systems, hydraulic systems, and cooling infrastructure
  • Experience in commissioning, testing, and defect management of mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with LOTO, change control, and SOP/MOP development
  • Data centre certifications such as CDCP or equivalent are an advantage
