Site Manager, Japan
Location: Miyagi Prefecture, Japan (100% Site-Based)
A leading international renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Japan. This role will play a key part in overseeing the on-site execution of renewable energy infrastructure projects, ensuring construction works are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. You will work closely with EPC contractors, owner’s engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure successful delivery from early works through to commissioning and handover to operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise on-site construction activities for renewable energy projects including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and associated electrical infrastructure
• Ensure project execution meets health, safety, environmental, schedule, quality, and cost targets
• Review and monitor project documentation including construction plans, quality assurance plans, and inspection programs
• Coordinate and supervise activities of main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owner’s engineers
• Verify construction works are completed in accordance with approved engineering designs and project specifications
• Monitor contractor construction schedules and identify potential risks to project timelines
• Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks, and material inspections
• Oversee site access processes and ensure proper documentation for all personnel and activities
• Ensure compliance with site health and safety requirements, safe work procedures, and regulatory standards
• Monitor and review risk assessments, safety observations, and incident reporting processes
• Track project progress and prepare regular site supervision and inspection reports
• Identify and manage non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventive measures
• Support commissioning activities including FAT, Pre-SAT, and SAT where required
• Assist with site mobilization, demobilization, and final project inspections
• Support project handover, warranty management, and transition to operations
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of on-site experience in construction supervision or site management
• Experience in renewable energy projects, particularly solar PV or electrical infrastructure
• Experience working with EPC contractors and construction teams
• Knowledge of substations or electrical infrastructure is highly advantageous
• Experience with site inspections, QA/QC, and construction reporting
• Strong ability to manage contractors and coordinate site activities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment with tight deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction documentation processes
• Fluent English and Japanese language ability preferred
